Job Description:
Our client located in RI has an immediate opening for a PHP developer to join their team in a remote capacity. The PHP developer will help with older PHP to maintain abstraction layer between databases.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an abstraction layer between legacy code and databases.
- Extract and refactor SQL from legacy databases to integrate with modern solutions.
- Collaborate with the team to understand and document the existing legacy system architecture.
- Debug and trace existing code to identify and resolve issues.
- Ensure smooth data migration between various database systems as needed.
- Provide support and maintenance for the existing system during the transition.
- Collaborate with other developers to ensure hand-offs of projects.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Required
- Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science preferred
- Proficient in PHP and experience with older versions of PHP (PHP 5.1).
- Strong understanding of legacy systems and ability to work with outdated codebases.
- Experience with SQL and various database systems such as Oracle, DB2, and MS SQLServer.
- Familiarity with ORM tools and techniques for database abstraction.
- Proven ability to debug and trace complex code to identify and resolve issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Experience with data migration and database conversion projects.
- Knowledge of software development best practices, tools and git.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- 3+ years developing and maintaining PHP in a LINUX environment,
- 3+ years experience with relation databases (MySQL preferred)
- 3+ years software development/engineering experience in a professional, compensated environment
- Work Independently or in a team environment
