Type: Independent Contractor

Time Commitment: Average of 5-10 hours per week. Hours increase to 15-20 hours per week for 2-3 weeks in both February and July.

Location: Remote (must be willing and able to work regular hours within +/- 2 hours of Pacific Time Zone for twice monthly check-in meetings.)

Budgeted Rate: $1,000 to $2,000 per month depending on experience

Role Overview

WIA is the only organization dedicated to advancing gender equity in animation (including visual effects and gaming). We are seeking a Web Administrator to manage and enhance our highly customized WordPress site, which serves a community of 15,000+ users. The ideal candidate will have experience in both front-end and back-end development, content updates, user and account management, custom program management, and database management. This role requires in-depth knowledge of web programming and application development, web and data security, and the ability to assess, diagnose, and repair issues as they arise.

A successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly organized, collaborative, and a strong time manager with good judgment, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues.
  • Perform content updates and changes.
  • Implement and verify the success of website upgrades and patches.

Security

  • Monitor systems for security breaches and implement necessary security protocols.
  • Review and verify the authenticity of upgrades and patches to prevent breaches.

Backups and Recovery

  • Develop and document backup and recovery plans.
  • Regularly perform backup and recovery procedures for applications and data.

Reporting and Data Management

  • Provide reporting data from multiple sources.
  • Write database queries as needed.

Design and Development

  • Manage the design, deployment, and development of web environments.
  • Ensure seamless integration of WooCommerce and custom web applications.

Web and Graphic Design

  • Create, optimize, and implement digital assets.
  • Perform basic to intermediate front-end web design and graphic design tasks.

Documentation

  • Develop and maintain thorough documentation for backup and recovery plans, as well as for other key processes.
