We are currently seeking a passionate and driven Full Stack Engineer intern to join our team. As an intern, you will play a crucial role in the continuous growth and enhancement of our platform. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both front-end and back-end development, working alongside a talented team of engineers and product managers.

In this unpaid internship, you will be deeply involved in various aspects of software development, from writing clean and efficient code to collaborating on new features and functionalities. You will have the chance to learn from experienced developers, participate in code reviews, and contribute to our agile development process using tools like Jira and GitLab.

Objective: As a Full Stack Engineer intern at Bluu Kazi, you will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of our platform. You will gain hands-on experience in both front-end and back-end development, working closely with our engineering team to improve our product and development processes. You will also collaborate with leadership to support day-to-day engineering activities and contribute to the entire software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

1. Web Development:

• Assist in developing and maintaining the Bluu Kazi platform using modern web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and Laravel.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code to ensure the platform?s functionality and performance.
• Work with senior developers to learn and apply best practices and coding standards.

2. Feature Implementation:

• Collaborate with the development team to design and implement new features and functionalities.
• Help develop user-friendly interfaces for job postings, internships, apprenticeships, and course listings.
• Participate in the feature development lifecycle from conceptualization to deployment.

3. Bug Fixing and Troubleshooting:

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and issues in the platform.
• Conduct testing and quality assurance to ensure the stability and functionality of the application.
• Learn and apply problem-solving techniques to streamline the bug resolution process.

4. Database Management:

• Assist in designing and optimizing database queries to improve performance.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and scalability across various database systems.
• Support initiatives to migrate and upgrade database systems as needed.

5. API Integration:

• Help integrate third-party APIs to enhance platform capabilities.
• Assist in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs for internal and external use.
• Learn to oversee the API lifecycle management, including versioning and deprecation strategies.

6. Code Review and Documentation:

• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
• Help maintain comprehensive documentation of code changes, processes, and user guides for future reference.
• Engage in regular knowledge-sharing sessions to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

7. Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other developers, to align development efforts with business objectives.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and ideas effectively to the team and stakeholders.
• Work closely with different departments, such as marketing, sales, and customer support, to ensure alignment of development goals with business objectives.

8. Agile Task Management:

• Use Jira for agile task management, including tracking progress, updating tasks, and participating in sprint planning and retrospectives.
• Follow agile methodologies to ensure timely and efficient completion of development tasks.
• Participate in sprint planning sessions and retrospectives, contributing to continuous improvement in team processes.

9. Version Control and Code Repository Management:

• Use GitLab for version control and code repository management.
• Commit code changes regularly, create branches for new features, and merge changes following best practices.
• Assist in managing the codebase to ensure a clean and organized repository structure.

10. Learning and Development:

• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
• Continuously enhance your technical skills and knowledge to drive innovation and improvement.

11. Testing and Quality Assurance:

• Assist in developing and executing unit tests to ensure code reliability.
• Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
• Learn to implement automated testing strategies to enhance the quality assurance process.

12. Project Management:

• Assist in planning and prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines.
• Maintain an organized and proactive approach to project management.
• Support project management efforts to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

13. Engagement and Suggestions:

• Actively engage and communicate with Bluu Kazi leadership.
• Provide insights and suggestions for improving platform functionality and user experience.
• Serve as a liaison between the engineering team and leadership, ensuring alignment and clear communication.

14. Initiative and Leadership:

• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in an unsupervised environment, showing initiative and the drive to advance project goals independently.
• Actively contribute ideas and innovative solutions to the team, presenting suggestions for platform improvements and new features.
• Take initiative in guiding and mentoring junior team members and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Strong understanding and experience with PHP and Laravel.
• Familiarity with RESTful API development and integration.
• Basic knowledge of database management, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with agile methodologies and tools, particularly Jira.
• Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git and GitLab.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to a dynamic team environment.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple tasks concurrently.

Important Information:

• This is an unpaid internship for a duration of 3 months.
