Job Details The stated pay range is based on a national average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills, and location. This position is bonus-eligible.

Optavise, a CNO Financial Group Company is seeking a Developer - PHP who has an agile mindset and can leverage the company?s Software Development Life Cycle ?SDLC? process. The Developer will have the Domain logic necessary to code, design, and improve the architecture and stability of the product. The role will be an embedded member of a team alongside other software developers, business/systems analysts, product owners, and quality assurance testers, and will work closely with their peer developers and lead.

As a Developer - PHP, your responsibilities will include: - Performing standard programming tasks, unit testing, contributing to functional specifications, participating in code reviews, and providing guidance to newer developers

  • Writing functional specifications for small to medium features: sustaining Application Programming Interfaces (API), integrating basic API packages, creating internal reports and single app defined features
  • Continuous learning and delivery of work assignments, programming coding standards, code repository design patterns, new tools and processes when required
  • Proactively seeking opportunities reduce technical debt/costs
  • Navigating the designated Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and utilizing shortcut keys for most frequent operations speeding up the time to deliver work
  • Proficient with engineering and programming foundations (frameworks and APIs) to write clearer and shorter code
  • Continuously learning and maintaining best practices as adding to the code repository.
  • Understanding scope of features, product components, and code design patterns
  • Managing database (DB) design techniques and querying the database(s); designing normalized DB schemas while considering the queries that will be issued.
  • Change Management for work completed to help determine software capitalization and documenting developer notes to help BAs with technical specifications and QAs to determine test coverages.
  • Meeting or exceeding the delivery timelines/expectations for the project (e.g., deliver on committed work within the sprint) and continuously improving on estimation skills.

The Developer - PHP position is well-suited for you if you: - Are proficient in programming languages (PHP, Java, etc..) and Standard Model-view-controller (MVC) Architectural Patterns

  • Are well-versed in using database views, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Are adept in the object-relational mapping technique (ORM).
  • Know index syntax to create custom clustered and non-clustered indexes
  • Possess strong communication skills and can share any impediments or blockers to committed sprint work deadlines and/or possible process improvements.
  • Have good time management skills to perform a variety of tasks, manage competing priorities, and complete tasks on time in a fast-moving environment while meeting (sprint) deadlines.
  • Are a quick learner, especially in the areas of product training and mentoring, advanced programming concepts, practice, and procedures.
  • Enjoy being a problem solver and can resolve issues effectively.

What you?ll need: - Typically requires a High School Diploma.

  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of full-stack programming experience (PHP proficiency is preferred).
  • Willingness to work EST or CST business hours

What will set you apart: - A Bachelor?s in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Information Systems, as well as the knowledge of the major programming language or equivalent.
