Overview We are a cross-functional team of field researchers, analysts, engineers and designers, dedicated to having the highest possible social impact to the world. We run initiatives across multiple countries in collaboration with different governments. Our approach is to combine technology with world-class analysis and participative programmes, to deliver projects and solutions that improve lives.
We are on the lookout for a Senior Full Stack Engineer with some solid PHP experience, for an initial 12 months contract, with a compensation up to ?5,000 / month depending on experience.
The team is partly based in London (UK), and partly international who predominantly work UK hours - we are open to remote candidates. There is a potential scope for offering an extension or a permanent position at the end of the contract.
Key Responsibilities - Drive development, improve and maintain our software solution, to ensure delivery of key TGSN work
- Scope work and set up appropriate processes around implementation and delivery (e.g. QA, releases management)
- Ensure timely and high quality delivery of the work
- Offer alternative solution where feasible
Requirements Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications - 7y+ experience working as a software engineer
- At least 3y experience working with PHP and Laravel
- At least 2y experience working on front end (ideally React.JS, but others ok too)
- Experience picking up an existing codebase
- Experience with querying and setting up SQL databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL) in a cloud environment
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs
- Some experience with cloud computing, specifically in AWS
- Experience working with an agile framework
- Great organisational and problem solving skills, with high attention to details
Desirable Skills, Experience & Qualifications - Experience with designing and managing databases
- Some DevOps experience, around configuring and managing servers and security access
- Experience building data pipelines
