About the Role:

As a website developer/digital assistant, you will be an integral part of our development team. You will work closely with senior developers to learn and implement best practices in web development. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about coding, eager to learn, and looking to build a career in web development.

The role will be home based but could be required to attend various meeting locations occasionally, as and when required. The role will also adhere to the flexitime principles for PUK.

Responsibilities:

  • Involved in the redesign of the current Psychiatry UK website.
  • Assisting the software development and marketing teams with all aspects of website and application design.
  • Updating the website content/imagery of the Psychiatry UK website on a regular basis.
  • Assisting with the testing and maintenance of the website and any associated applications (including the Companion app).
  • Create html/css/javascript front end from wireframes and/or Photoshop compositions.
  • Converting video, audio, written, and graphic components into compatible formats for the web.
  • Supplying regular GA analytic reports.
  • Assist the software development team in a variety of digital administrator tasks.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation.
  • Plan own workload to ensure that tasks are met.
  • Prioritise workload with consideration to issues arising and responding to shifting priorities appropriately.
  • Actively participate in regular supervision with line manager and the PUK PDR process for maintaining and developing personal skills and meeting agreed objectives.
  • The post holder will attend online training as relevant to the post including mandatory training courses i.e. Information Governance, safeguarding, Health and Safety courses etc

Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 3 years of website design and development experience.
  • Experience in working with design agencies to create new websites from design wireframes/mockups.
  • Experience in working within the Wordpress environment, updating plugins backups, updating core files etc.
  • Experience working with coding languages such as HTML, PHP, Javascript.
  • Good planning, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • A portfolio of web design and projects you've worked on.
  • A working knowledge of software design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of onpage and offpage SEO techniques.
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and disseminating GA reports.
  • A working knowledge of software prototyping and UX design tools.
  • Goal-orientated and deadline-driven.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow as a website developer.
  • Microsoft Office experience.

Desirable Experience and Skills:

  • A degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Technology Design or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience of using Wordpress, Plugins and Templates.
  • Experience in general Website Design principles (ie ?Mobile First?).
  • Knowledge of Website Usability and UX/UI Design is a plus.
  • Web Hosting/Server Management is a plus.
