cFocus Software is seeking an experienced Web Administrator with 8+ years of expertise to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing and maintaining web environments, ensuring secure, reliable, and optimized performance for all DHS web applications. The Web Administrator will play a crucial role in the design, deployment, testing, and ongoing maintenance of DHS web-based systems, ensuring compliance with security protocols and operational efficiency.

This position requires expertise in web administration, including the deployment and troubleshooting of web servers, content management systems, and web application frameworks. The Web Administrator will also be responsible for ensuring the quality assurance of websites and web applications to meet DHS?s high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Web Environment Management:

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and ongoing management of web environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.

  • Manage and configure web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx, IIS) and web applications to support mission-critical DHS operations.

  • Coordinate the integration and deployment of web technologies and platforms, ensuring smooth operation within DHS infrastructure.

  • Web Development & Maintenance:

  • Support the development, deployment, and maintenance of web applications and sites, including ensuring adherence to user requirements, security standards, and system optimization.

  • Collaborate with development teams to implement new features and enhance existing functionalities.

  • Maintain content management systems (CMS) and ensure that web applications are up to date with the latest software versions and security patches.

  • Testing & Quality Assurance:

  • Perform thorough testing and quality assurance for websites and web applications, ensuring that they meet functional, performance, and security standards.

  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and work with security teams to mitigate any web-based risks or breaches.

  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure comprehensive testing and troubleshooting across the web environment.

  • Security & Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce security policies for web applications, ensuring compliance with Department of Homeland Security guidelines, federal regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., NIST, FISMA).

  • Monitor web environments for potential security vulnerabilities and take appropriate actions to resolve identified issues.

  • Manage user authentication, access control, and encryption protocols to ensure data integrity and secure user interactions on DHS websites.

  • Monitoring & Performance Optimization:

  • Monitor web servers, applications, and databases to ensure optimal performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve web application issues, such as slow load times, broken links, and error messages, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.

  • Analyze traffic patterns and website usage to recommend improvements and ensure web systems meet user demand.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all web systems, including configuration files, design specifications, and standard operating procedures.

  • Generate regular performance and security reports for senior management, highlighting any system performance issues, security vulnerabilities, or needed improvements.

  • Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with IT security teams, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure that web environments are secure, functional, and meet the mission needs of the Department of Homeland Security.

  • Provide guidance and support to junior administrators or other team members as required.

  • Coordinate with external vendors or contractors for specialized support or web-related services as needed.

Qualifications: - Education:

  • Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field. A Master?s degree is a plus.

  • Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in web administration, including managing and maintaining web environments, web application development, and troubleshooting.

  • Proven experience with web server technologies (e.g., Apache, Nginx, IIS) and related frameworks.

  • Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, along with experience in front-end and back-end development.

  • Experience with web application security, including SSL, encryption, and vulnerability management.

  • Strong experience in CMS (Content Management Systems) such as WordPress, Drupal, or custom-built systems.

  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong proficiency in web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and APIs.

  • In-depth knowledge of web server configurations, load balancing, and content delivery networks (CDNs).

  • Familiarity with web frameworks and databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).

  • Experience with web performance optimization techniques (e.g., caching, lazy loading).

  • Familiarity with security protocols and best practices, such as HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and authentication.

  • Proficiency in website and server monitoring tools to ensure uptime and performance.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and perform root cause analysis.

  • Certifications (Preferred):

  • Certified Web Professional (CWP) or related certifications.

  • ITIL Foundation or related IT service management certifications.

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) (preferred but not required).

Security Clearance: Due to the nature of this role, candidates must possess or be able to obtain the required security clearance.
