Job Description:

We are partnering with a prestigious investment bank to find a Junior Developer for a 12-month contract (with the possibility of extensions). This exciting opportunity involves working very closely with the front office and trading teams to develop and enhance software solutions that support their critical operations.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience working in a trading environment and be proficient in Python, SQL, VBS, and VBA/Excel Macros. The role offers remote working flexibility and is outside IR35, allowing for greater freedom in your working arrangements. Their office are in London City.

As part of a dynamic and fast-paced team, you will gain valuable experience in the investment banking sector while contributing to high-impact projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement Software: Build and enhance software solutions using Python, SQL, VBS, and VBA/Excel Macros, with a focus on the front office and trading teams' needs.
Collaborate Closely with Trading Teams: Work directly with front office traders, quants, and other business users to deliver software solutions that improve trading workflows and decision-making.
Maintain and Optimize Software: Continuously improve and optimize the performance of existing applications.
Database Design & Maintenance: Design, optimize, and maintain databases for handling large volumes of financial data.
Quality Assurance: Test and troubleshoot software products to ensure they meet the performance and functionality requirements of the trading environment.
Proactive Problem Solving: Recommend and implement improvements to enhance software solutions, ensuring they meet the fast-paced needs of the trading teams.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Proven experience with Python, SQL, VBS, and VBA/Excel Macros.
Finance/Trading Knowledge: A solid understanding of finance and/or trading, with a minimum of 1 year of experience working in a trading environment.
Experience with Front/middle office Teams: Previous experience working closely with front office traders, quants, or other trading teams in a high-pressure environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly in relation to trading and financial data.
Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team, especially in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
Communication: Strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proactive and Motivated: A drive to learn, innovate, and grow professionally within the finance and trading technology space.
