Seek and Sight is a web-based educational platform that teaches sight words to children with learning disabilities through STEM concepts, social-emotional learning, and personalized, curriculum-aligned tools. Seek and Sight addresses critical social and educational challenges that impact children with learning disabilities, their families, and underserved communities.

Role (Volunteer): Website Developer.

Role Description:

The website developer at Seek and Sight bridges the gap between creative design and technical execution. Their work ensures that the visually engaging concepts from the design team are transformed into a dynamic, interactive, and secure digital platform that embodies the brand?s core values of exploration ("seek") and clarity ("sight").

Core Responsibilities

Front-End Development:

Convert design prototypes into responsive web pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Implement modern frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Vue) to build interactive user interfaces that align with the brand?s aesthetic.

Back-End Development:

Develop and maintain the server-side architecture using relevant programming languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, or Ruby).

Manage databases (SQL/NoSQL) to securely handle user data and dynamic content.

Full-Stack Integration:

Seamlessly integrate front-end and back-end components to ensure smooth data flow and optimal performance.

Develop and optimize APIs that connect various services and modules within the website.

Performance & Security Optimization:

Implement techniques such as caching, load balancing, and secure data protocols to enhance website speed and security.

Continuously monitor and update the website to protect against vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with best practices.

Testing & Quality Assurance:

Conduct comprehensive testing?including unit, integration, and usability tests?to identify and resolve bugs.

Collaborate with QA teams to maintain high-quality standards before deployment.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with website designers, content creators, and project managers to align technical development with creative vision.

Participate in agile workflows, providing updates during sprint meetings and contributing to code reviews.

Stay up-to-date with emerging web development trends and technologies, proposing innovative enhancements to maintain a competitive edge.

Analyze website performance data to identify areas for technical improvement and scalability.

Time Commitment: Volunteer 10+ hours per week for a one-off project remotely ?
