Chief Technology Officer

TeamUp is looking for a chief technology officer (CTO) ? equity-based opportunity.

At TeamUp, we are redefining how college students organize and participate in intramural sports and recreational games. After a successful launch in Kazakhstan, we are now expanding into the U.S. to address a significant market gap: over 19 million college students participate in recreational sports, yet there is no streamlined platform for coordination.

Live product ? TeamUp is already launched and gaining traction in Kazakhstan.
Complete Figma designs ? A full product blueprint is available for further enhancements.
Backed by Columbia's Almaworks Accelerator ? We are refining our go-to-market strategy with top-tier mentorship.

The opportunity:

We are searching for a chief technology officer (CTO) to take ownership of TeamUp?s technology. This is an equity-based position, ideal for someone looking to be a core part of a high-growth startup rather than a traditional salaried employee. The CTO will play a pivotal role in scaling TeamUp?s technology, optimizing platform performance, and leading a technical team as we expand.

Responsibilities:

Optimize and scale ? refine our existing platform to ensure it can support thousands of students across 100+ colleges.
Lead and develop ? build and manage an engineering team as we grow.
Innovate and execute ? implement new features, enhance user experience, and align technology with business objectives.

Qualifications:

At least three years of full-stack development experience, ideally in startups or product-building.
Experience working with live applications, optimizing, and scaling products.
Proficiency in backend frameworks (Node.js, Django, Ruby on Rails, etc.) and cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Strong understanding of databases, microservices, and API development.
A strategic, problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced startup environment.
Bonus: experience with social networking features, gamification, or sports-related applications.
