Salary: Up to £45k (Depending on experience and qualification)

Location: Remote (working from home)

Job description

Working as part of an established team, you will be central to our high growth strategy, maintaining, developing and enhancing Artifax?s core products and shaping the future of venue and event management solutions.

Reporting directly to the Head of Technologies, as a Software Developer, you will collaborate with passionate professionals, drive innovation, and make a tangible impact every day.

Within this role you will have an opportunity to develop highly desirable industry skills working with software, platforms, technologies, and methodologies such as PHP, CodeIgniter, Laravel, HMVC, Scrum, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Windows Server/IIS, HTML, jQuery, JavaScript, and AWS.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, will have an understanding of source code control (for example GIT), agile development, will have a passion for SaaS application development and will be a team player.

Key duties, involvement, and responsibilities

  • Design well-architected software and write clean, efficient code
  • Develop 3rd party integrations
  • Work on product technologies to ensure they are on supported versions
  • Provide technical mentorship on technologies, frameworks, methods and standards to other members of the development team
  • Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues
  • Articulate multiple solutions and their trade-offs
  • Design and optimise relational database structures to ensure data integrity and scalability
  • Conduct thorough testing of developed features, ensure high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the development process and system functionality
  • Produce specifications
  • Provide constructive feedback during requirement reviews
  • Provide thoughtful estimates of effort
  • Ask questions in order to define requirements and align on approaches
  • Provide Software support and maintenance

Required qualifications & skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university or a certificate from a technical training institute
  • At least three years' experience of working in the software development industry within an agile environment
  • Exceptional analytical, creative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Back-End Development and Software Development skills
  • Back-End Web Development and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills
  • Experience with PHP, PHP frameworks like CodeIgniter and Laravel, MSSQL/MySQL, Git, and RESTful APIs
  • Experience with Web Technologies ? HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (jQuery and Angular or other similar JavaScript libraries or frameworks)
  • Experience with PHP version migration
  • Experience with relational databases in the area of schema design, stored procedures, and query optimisation
  • Experience working on complete software development life cycle

Desirable (but not essential) skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers/IIS
  • Wamp, Apache, or Nginx
  • Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu)
  • Understanding or experience with C#/.NET framework
  • Experience developing on an AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Experience leading and mentoring small development teams
