Job Description Bring a Trailer is part of the Hearst Autos family. BaT Auctions are the best way to buy and sell classic, collector, and enthusiast vehicles. We curate vehicles submitted by our audience and craft transparent auction listings that present the vehicles as they are?without superlatives or dubious used-car-lot language. BaT's ever-growing community of knowledgeable users vets each listing so potential buyers can bid with confidence.
Your Impact
You will join a diverse, supportive community of engineers who are creating a next-generation auction marketplace and supporting services. We?re transitioning from a PHP/WordPress application to microservices and a front-end built using modern web technologies like Python, JavaScript, Node.js, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Redis, and React. We also build and maintain native mobile applications for both iOS and Android. We believe in crafting simple, elegant solutions to solve complex problems.
Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES - Full stack web/mobile application development with a variety of coding languages
- Build the next-generation auction marketplace and supporting services
- Participate in product and software design discussions, working directly with other engineers, product and design teams, DevOps, and other stakeholders
- Use well-reasoned, appropriate design patterns and best practices
- Experience developing features using agile methodologies
- Collaborate on peer code reviews and documentation efforts
Qualifications Things we look for - Takes initiative to constantly improve individually and as a part of a team.
- You write tests to improve the quality, modularity, and maintainability of your code.
- You understand and have experience with concurrency and asynchronous programming.
- Solid experience in server-side programming in Node.js, Java, Go, Python or similar languages - not tied to a specific language or framework, but able to quickly adapt and learn new skills.
Skills And Experience - 3+ years of experience building web applications and services.
- CS degree or equivalent real-world experience and knowledge of CS fundamentals.
- Eager to learn any new languages / frameworks that apply.
- Relational databases / data models
Bonus Points: - Docker, Kubernetes
- Cloud and serverless development - Amazon AWS and Google Cloud
- Experience with using componentized design systems
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and data models

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in California or New York. The reasonable estimate, if hired in California or New York, is $116,000-$125,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in California or New York. For all other locations not listed above, the reasonable estimate is $104,000-$125,000. A final decision on the successful candidate?s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
