About the Role
We are seeking a PHP Web Developer for a full-time, permanent role located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this position, you will join a dynamic team of developers, analysts, and project leaders dedicated to crafting innovative web applications. This role emphasizes strong back-end development skills, with additional responsibilities that span front-end interactivity, database integration, and geospatial tools. You will be working on high-performance applications used by thousands, helping to architect and deliver digital solutions from the ground up.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain web-based applications using PHP 5.x, CodeIgniter, JavaScript, AJAX, and jQuery
Collaborate with database engineers to design robust data models with PostgreSQL or MySQL
Design and implement responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces
Integrate mapping functionality using OpenLayers, MapServer, and ESRI ArcGIS or ArcMap
Create and maintain shell scripts (Bash, KSH, CSH) for deployment and server automation
Utilize Perl, Python, or Lua for backend scripting and data processing
Use Git for version control and contribute via Agile development practices
Support systems hosted on Apache web servers running Linux
Troubleshoot and analyze application issues, offering innovative technical solutions
Qualifications
3?5 years of experience with PHP, JavaScript, and MVC frameworks like CodeIgniter
Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts
Practical experience with web servers (Apache) and Linux operating systems
Ability to write and maintain scripts in Bash, Python, or Perl
Real-world experience with responsive web design implementation
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project needs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach

Compensation
Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
