FULL STACK DEVELOPER (CONTRACT) BIRMINGHAM Are you an accomplished Full Stack Developer, who is passionate about future-proofing business technology?

THE OPPORTUNITY We are a well-established online retailer entering a growth period and looking to enlist the help of a contractor to work on a prestigious project ensuring that the tech we have in place will meet the current and future demands of the business.

THE PROJECT Use your business savvy, analytical skills, and hands-on technical skills to:

• Assess our in-house and external systems to ensure alignment to the business operations and goals
• Provide us with a documented System Health Check
• Make necessary improvements to ensure our tech stack is efficient, robust, scalable, and secure.
• Support on ongoing front and backend development projects including integrations and implementations.
• Research and document and specific recommendations providing a business case for the adoption and highlighting risk.

Key project focus You will receive a list of tech to be investigated, amongst these will include key areas such as:

• Web development, including optimised UX/UI for desktop and mobile browsers
• Intranet development
• Ecommerce, POS, payments and analytics

**THE PERSON Retail background -**Good understanding of retail business (with large numbers of SKUs) and technical experience of setting up high performing systems in B2C ecommerce / distribution.

**Business acumen -**Able to understand process flows and interdepartmental co-dependencies in order to investigate and improve upon the tech which supports business activity.

Able to write business cases with cost benefit analysis, assessing risk, performance, security, scalability and costing.

**Documentation skills -**Able to provide high quality documentation, understandable to a non-technical readership. Making risk-assessed recommendations (with supporting business case) about the technology used, ability to scale and security measures required.

Must haves

• Proven hands-on experience experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar job responsibility.
• Strong understanding of modern technologies and frameworks.
• Strong written and communication skills
• The ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• As a minimum to be proficient in: Drupal 9 / Pantheon / Laravel / PHP / HTML / CSS / Javascript / Nginx / GIT / Zynk Automations / JQuery & JQuery UI / Swiper / XML Feeds / Bootstrap 5 / MariaDb / Newrelic / Varnish / Fastly / Cloudflare / SSL / DDOS / HSTS / Sage200 / Common payment platforms such as paypal, Klarna, google, apple
• Ability to work standalone, taking hands-on, proactive responsibility for the project findings and implementation of fixes, including testing.
• Ability to research, review and recommend alternatives to the above tech or additional tech with a strong business case.

Desirables

• Experience in using or implementing alternatives to the "must-have" tech
• Previously used SEO / PPC tools and familiar with how to optimise the results achieved.
• Based within commutable distance of Birmingham
