Website Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile freelance Website Developer & Designer to join our network of talented professionals. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining visually appealing and user-friendly websites for our diverse clientele. This role requires a strong understanding of various website platforms, a keen eye for design, and a solid grasp of UI/UX principles to deliver exceptional online experiences.

Responsibilities:

· Full Website Lifecycle: Take projects from initial concept and design through development, testing, and deployment.

· Platform Proficiency: Build, customize, and maintain websites on various platforms including WordPress (including theme and plugin customization), Squarespace, Wix, Shopify (including Liquid development), and Drupal.

· Custom Development: Possess the ability to implement custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as needed to achieve specific design and functionality requirements.

· UI/UX Design: Create intuitive and visually engaging user interfaces (UI) and ensure a seamless and positive user experience (UX) across different devices.

· Workflow Management: Effectively manage your own workflow, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate progress clearly.

· Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and other team members (as needed) to understand requirements and provide updates.

· Responsiveness & Optimization: Ensure websites are responsive across all screen sizes (desktop, tablet, mobile) and optimized for performance and speed.

· Testing & Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing to identify and resolve any bugs or usability issues.

· Staying Updated: Keep abreast of the latest web development trends, design principles, platform updates, and security best practices.

· Documentation (Optional but beneficial): Provide clear and concise documentation for website functionality and maintenance.

Required Skills & Experience:

· Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a freelance website developer and designer with a strong portfolio showcasing your work across different platforms.

· Platform Expertise: In-depth knowledge and practical experience with:

o WordPress: Theme customization (both free and premium), plugin installation and configuration, basic troubleshooting.

o Squarespace: Template customization, understanding of its unique features and limitations.

o Wix: Utilizing the Wix editor and its app marketplace.

o Shopify: Theme customization (Liquid), app integration, understanding of e-commerce functionalities.

o Drupal: Site building, module installation and configuration (experience with custom module development is a plus).

· Front-End Development: Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS (including preprocessors like Sass or Less), and JavaScript (including frameworks like jQuery).

· UI/UX Design Principles: Solid understanding of user-centered design methodologies, information architecture, usability testing, and accessibility guidelines.

· Design Tools: Familiarity with design software such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar for creating wireframes and visual designs.

· Responsive Design: Expertise in creating responsive and mobile-first websites.

· Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical issues.

· Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.

· Self-Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage your own workload and meet deadlines independently.

· Reliability & Professionalism: Consistent and reliable in delivering high-quality work on time.

Bonus Points For:

· Experience with SEO best practices and website optimization for search engines.

· Knowledge of website security principles.

· Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

· Familiarity with website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).

· Experience with headless CMS or other modern web development technologies.
