Job Summary & Responsibilities Overview: The Senior Developer is the day-to-day engineering lead for MedSchoolCoach. This role engages with freelance developers, software development agencies, and internal business teams to manage and maintain multiple backend systems and web applications, and to support the rapid prototyping and building of high-quality educational products and applications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development tasks across multiple teams (mix contracted and internal)
• Design and document APIs
• Design database schema and improve existing database structures
• Enforce code quality standards for backend and frontend systems
• Manage and maintain multiple backend systems and web applications
• Prioritize technology resources
• Lead engineering sprint cycles and delegate tasks to team members
• Work closely with Product Team on technical strategy and solutions

Qualifications - 5+ years of full stack software development experience

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to build shared understanding between technical and non-technical team members.
• Able to creatively solve business problems with efficiency
• Able to strategize technical solutions with a focus on the creative solving business problems, both quickly and efficiently
• Quick learner and ability to jump into multiple projects/codebases
• Strong ability to maintain interconnecting API systems and dependencies
• Ability to organize and document technical resources
• Strong familiarity with:
• PHP
• Laravel and/or Lumen
• Experience with RESTful API development
• JavaScript with ES6
• VueJS
• MySQL
• Git
• HTML/CSS
• Note: a familiarity with any of the following is a bonus! o Nuxt
• WordPress
• AWS SDK for PHP or JS, especially working with S3 o Auth0
• Stateless API development
• Familiarity with Oauth strategies
