Client description

This project is for a well-established UK-based retail and service business operating at the premium end of its industry. They are known for innovation, customer care, and a highly tailored in-person experience ? and are now investing in a custom Shopify platform that will bring their service and product offering online in a seamless and scalable way.

Role Description

I?m looking for a freelance Shopify developer or small studio to collaborate with me on a complex Shopify build. The ideal partner will have strong technical capabilities, a detail-focused mindset, and experience building highly polished Shopify 2.0 sites with custom functionality.

You?ll work alongside me as I lead creative direction, UX, and project strategy ? and you?ll be responsible for building and implementing the technical backbone that brings it all to life, as well as some exciting (but complex) technical elements.

This is a freelance contract role ? with the potential to expand based on performance, fit, and availability. You?ll be expected to collaborate closely, communicate clearly, and work to a high standard of execution and integrity.

Core responsibilities

• Build a custom Shopify 2.0 theme (bespoke, not just modified from existing)
• Develop a modular product configurator for tailored customer journeys
• Integrate with Airtable (or similar CMS/CRM platform)
• Build a lightweight order tracking system, connected to Shopify order status
• Implement custom logic for appointment booking and user notifications
• Ensure excellent UX, accessibility, responsiveness and page speed
• Collaborate on technical architecture decisions and timelines

Skills and qualifications

• Proven experience with Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with Shopify Online Store 2.0 architecture and custom theme builds
• Strong knowledge of Shopify APIs and third-party app integrations
• Familiarity with Airtable, Zapier, or similar tools is a major plus
• Understanding of eCommerce best practices and conversion principles
• Strong attention to detail and ability to write clean, scalable code
• Good communicator who?s happy collaborating via async tools and regular check-ins
• Agency or freelance background working on premium, custom builds preferred
